Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
Metro services were disrupted on Monday at 12:12 PM after a man jumped onto the up line tracks in front of a Dakshineswar-bound train at Chandni Chowk Metro station. Eyewitnesses reported that the man had been walking on the platform before jumping as the train approached. A portion of his body became trapped under the train, halting operations immediately. Rescue operations were launched, and emergency personnel were deployed to the site.
Metro authorities confirmed that trains on the up line are operational only between Girish Park and Dakshineswar, while down line services continue from Maidan to Kavi Subhash. Stations between these operational sections remain closed. Officials stated that normal services would resume after the rescue operations are completed and clearance is obtained.
The disruption occurred during peak office hours, leading to passenger congestion at multiple stations. Crowds were seen gathering as commuters waited for updates or sought alternative transport options. Metro officials have not yet released details about the identity or condition of the individual involved or an estimated timeline for full restoration of services.
